I was a student teacher for a while and it was my DREAM job!!! I studied music ed in college. Currently taking time off because the degree is k-12 certification which means I have to study up to music theory 5...as in such complex theory that I'd be teachibg it to highschoolers...I don't want that...I want to teach elementary. I got assigned a middle school for student teaching but I felt lost having to study such complex music theory it was just too hard for me
I just wanted to play piano and give elementary kids a good foundation and love for music.
Maybe I'll go back and finish school after I pay off my loans...but the jobs I got student teaching gave me wonderfu experience and helped build a clientele so that I can give voice/piano lessons at private academies for dance/music, or even out of my own home, in my spare time. I LOVE teaching, and it is my passion...right now I'm pursuing a vet tech degree..but I still dream of being an elementary school music teacher.
