But the sudden jumping up and running around like he was scared or hurting, ears back, tail clamped down, hard belly(w/o the passing of gas and no gas smell) looking at me with sad eyes all fits. He was on Pepcid, the Mylicon drops, Hill's Gastro I/D and after 6-7 weeks, it finally stopped it. His lipase washigh but CPL snap and all other tests done twice were WNL. Vet finally said the jerking-awake episodes were intestinal spasm from areas that were irritated in the intestine/colon and until he was on the nice, plain-Jane food for a long enough time with nothing else to irritate his gut, he would likely do it. I was pretty frantic but I am pretty sure it was Ellie May/Crystal who finally told me gut problems could take a good while to settle down, tended to recur at times in certain dogs and her words kind of calmed me down. I have similar symptoms at times myself so I finally came to see that dogs can be a lot like us with their GI issues. But while he had the spasms, he wasn't digesting his food well and he had the reverse sneezing the vet said from gastric juices making their way into the lower esophagus from the intestinal irritation/spasm irritating the esophagus and even nauseating him at times - which is why he often had little appetite some days and stood around still with his head hanging down. It took forever for him to get better but finally he stopped jerking awake & running around in that scared-acting or painful-seeming attitude. I have still kept him on the Hill Gastrointestinal I/D all summer and continuing to the present just out of fear of starting to change him over but will be segueing him into a good diet very soon. Maybe Taycie has a bit of IBS that causes her some gastric spasm and pain. I hope you can find some answers for her as little Tibbe finally got. Keep us posted. |
Wow! That's Taycie! Her stool was awful until I got her on the right food. On top of which she was a horrible itchy mess. I am wondering if what Taycie is going through is just a flair up then.
At the vet today we mostly talked about how we would diagnosis the problem. She goes into tomarrow for X-rays as she needs to be fasted for best results.
We talked about also doing a Bile Acids tests, more bloodwork and possibly and ultrasound. So that is the plan for now.
I'll know more after put appt. tomarrow. She is on Pepcid for now to also help with discomfort.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to sort this out.
