My Mac doesn't care much for grass either. But I was persistant with his training and he finally (took a verrrry long time) got the idea to "go" on the grass. Though for peeing it's usually still three legs on the sidewalk and one leg "up" over the grass, unless he spies a good tree.
If the grass is wet - it's even worse for him.
