Here is a list of "stuff" to have in an emergency kit for our furbabies. I found this on a first aid site....

1. Emergency card with vet, emgency vet and local/national poison-control numbers.
2. muzzle or fabric to make one
3. bandage materials (sterile gauze pads, all sizes) - ace bandage, plastic wrap (to seal wounds), blunt scissors, etc.
4. heavy tape (to immbolize)
5. bubble wrap (for splinting)
6. blunt tipped tweezers
7. electric clippers (to trim hair around wounds)
8. needle-nose pliers (to remove larger objects)
9. eyedropper/syringe (to give medicines)
10. rectal thermometer
11. clean towl or small blanket
12. cold and hot packs
13. antiseptic liquid soap (Betadine Skin Cleanser)
14. antiseptic solution (Betadine Solution) to soak or flush wounds
15. Cotton balls
16. Clean washcloth
17. lubricants (KY jelly, mineral oil, etc)
18. Sterile Saline Solution (contact solution) to flush wounds
19. Karo Syrup, honey (for shock)
20. Anibiotic ointment (Neosporin) for wounds
21. activated charcoal preparaton (ToxiBan)
22. 3% hydrogen peroxide for poisoning
23. Syrup of Ipecac (to induce vomiting)
24. Buffered Aspirin - check with vet
25. Antihistamine (Benadryl) for itching - (also a good sedative)
26. Anti-diarrheal (Kaopectate)
27. Styptic Powder (to stop bleeding)

I do not think I would use all of this, so if anyone has anything they would remove or add, please let me know.

Also, all the sites I looked at said to always ask your vet first before you give certain medicines....which I am posting a list of human medicines that are approved for your pets next.
