I am sorry you are going through this but glad you are taking her back home to your moms, she will be safer there. Also since you have college roommates anything can happen since they don't love your dog like you do, she could get out, stepped on, dangerous food could be dropped on the floor etc. Shortly after college I lived in a house with 5 people and the couple that ran the house had a Great Dane, and to be honest I did not care for it and was resentful that we were sort of expected to help out with it. One time everyone but me was gone for the weekend so I had to watch Bentley, we had a small yard with a gate, I let him out and went back to get him about a half hour later and saw him running down the street, someone must have opened the gate, we lived in a busy beach community in CA. Bentley would not come when I called him back and I went chasing him but could not catch him, all I remember was him looking over his shoulder as he hightailed it down the street. I don't remember how long I spent looking for him but he never returned that weekend. I had done nothing wrong because they always put him in the yard, but boy did I feel guilty. They wound up finding him several months later, someone must have found him and then kept him on purpose. Anyway I am sure that you did not expect your roommates to take care of your dog, but anytime you have others living in your house with your dog you can never be certain of what will happen when you are not there. Another example, I had house guests this summer, one of them dropped a prescription sleeping pill on the floor and they did not know it, I found it two days layer, laying right next to Lola's bed, had she chewed it up, it most likely would have been fatal, so I commend you for doing what is best for your little girl, take comfort in the fact that she will be much safer and LOL now you can bring your laundry home and visit your pup at the same time.
