They have a water bowl in our bedroom, a water bowl on our top half storey (for when we watch movies up there!) a water bowl in the living room, Layla's water and food bowls on a stand in the crate area, Kash and Lucy's food bowls in their crate, and another big water bowl outside of the crate! And none of them are stainless steel yet, go figure!
From my understanding ceramic bowls are fine, it's plastic bowls that can cause problems and in fact even some stainless steel bowls. Stainless has nickel in it, which can leach. Nickel can cause problems. If anyone has some evidence of problems with ceramic bowls, please link it.
