How often you change it will depend on how he acts. Some won't go on one more than once. Other's will use it a few times. Yes they will poo on it too. When you first get him I would confine him to an area, x pen, bathroom, etc with his pee pad. Then gradually enlarge the area until you can trust him in the entire house. You can also train him to go outside if that's what you prefer. Good Luck!
