No matter how much I TRY I just can't get into my work anymore. I'm sitting here at work not working and not caring anymore.
Almost 4 weeks ago, an announcement was made that layoffs were coming in the next 4 weeks. That 4 weeks is up on Tuesday. We have all these KEY projects that we are working on, but they are not going to 'go-live' until 2 weeks from now. What if I'm not even here anymore? I can't seem to get into the tedious work I have to do when I don't even know if I'll see my own work come to fruition.
Morale is soooooo down here, rumors are flying rampart about when it's going to happen, how it's going to happen, whos getting cut, whats getting cut, what the severance package will be, even so far as to say that the layoff will happen with a 60 day notice and will come out next week, giving us all jobs until early-mid dec and then gone by mid-late Dec. Happy - freakin - Holidays!!!
The thing is ... I love my job, I love my company and my coworkers. I know whether I am here or not here things are going to drastically change. I'm half-hearted-ly keeping my eye on jobs in my area, thinking about updating my resume but haven't done anything yet.
Most everyone here at this point is saying they just want it over now. Just to know if they are going to have a job or not. Most people just don't care if it's them thats getting let go at this point, they just WANT TO KNOW!
