For housebreaking and grooming training, I used Cheerios; they are mostly air and few calories so they aren't interfering with proper nutrition. They are also easy for a puppy to digest and won’t give them diarrhea, like some bigger treats can. I personally would avoid the ham, if I were you, it has lots of salt in it which can be harmful to dogs. Don’t use any processed lunch meats, they all contain too much salt. If you want to use meat, you can boil chicken breast and cut it into tiny pieces, and this is great for other types of training where you need to keep them focused for longer periods of time, but too much can make them not want their kibble and chicken isn't nutritionally balanced.
