Question Crate anxiety/Kong ideas

Benny boy just got home from his first visit to the vet. She says he is a healthy little boy off to a great start. The concern I expressed is the crate anxiety when we leave in the am. He cries and cries and he's just so sad. She suggested that I use a Kong filled with something yummy to eat for the transition and then give him this so he has something to look forward to when we go. Seems like a good idea except he's not crazy about his kibble. She told me to water it down so it gets soft and then stuff it in the kong and freeze it. I will try this but in case he doesn't like it do you have any other delicious Kong ideas? For that matter any other ideas to lessen his crate anxiety.
The mornings can be an absolute madhouse trying to get the kids off to school and us out the door for work. Benny is figuring this out and he runs away from us now too when we need to put him in the crate. Can you just picture this? Thank goodness I work part time! We do play music for him too FYI.

Thanks all!
