You ARE absolutely right !
I see this almost every day. One will just sit there when my guys go outside to Potty, and when they see the Squirrel they start "stalking". Then when they charge, the Squirrel will allow them to get close, THEN do a fast cut to the right or left and quickly run up a tree and chatter, as they flip their tails back and forth.
Just like they're laughing at how slow my guys are. It's comical
