Default Sensitive after a shot of benadryl

Okay, please bear with me, this is sort of a long story. I intend to phone my regular vet after my class to double-check with her on this, but I want to know if anyone else has ever experienced this with their yorkies.

Tallulah had a couple of fleas, which have been treated accordingly. The Orkin guy was out on Saturday and we stayed away after he sprayed for 6 hours instead of the recommended four. That night when we came home, she started having this honking cough and it looked like she was dry heaving, so we ran her to the emergency vet. She had stopped by the time we reached the vet, but they decided to give her a shot of benadryl before we went home.

The shot was particularly painful for her, and I'm not sure if it's because of the size of needle they used or what. They tried three different injection sites before they could successfully administer it. She has small lumps in those three places, which are typical for her after vaccines and will go away by the end of the week.

The problem is that she seems to have taken on a level of bodily soreness. I've given her a bone check to make sure, but she's been very squeaky and slow to react to some things. Normally she's very good at getting out of the way and last night my roommate had almost stepped on one of her feet. She gave a squeal and ran off.

On a walk, I picked her up to cross the street at a stoplight so I could get her across quickly and as I was running, she yelped. I did a physical once over when we got home and she didn't fight me on anything.

What I'm wondering is if anyone else has experienced this with Benadryl before? She still eats and drinks just fine and is getting around okay, but she seems very sleepy and sore. Is it typical for yorkies to still feel the effects of the injection on Day 3?
