When I was a kid my parents took us to a small zoo where a guy had a really pretty boa constrictor. He let people pet it and I discovered that snakes were not so bad and not slimy like I first thought. The majority of snakes around here are just as afraid of humans as the humans are of them. They don't want to be seen or touched. There are a couple of kinds of poisonous snakes that live in he north east but not known to be in our particular area. We have historical indian trails all around here and I still like to walk the paths now and then when I can. I do make sure everyone wears the right type of shoes and such and we do stay on the trails. Have only seen a few small garter snakes this year......except for that skin! Shows you how well they hide themselves.
