Oh, I am so sorry for this absolute tragedy. I believe I would pursue seeing that those officers were brought up on some type of disciplinary action for wanting to leave such dangerous animals in MY home! That is unconscionable and these officers obviously had no judgment. But if they had left them in my home, I would have shot them just as surely as I'm sitting here had they just broken into my home and killed my babies. I'd be too scared not to for fear I would be their next victim! I am sure you would be next to be attacked if you had not acted pro-actively and gotten some media help! Imagine leaving you at the mercy of those vicious animals overnight because your county Animal Control wasn't available. Usually don't the officers corral dogs like that into the garage, the back yard or something until an emergency Animal Control officer is called out to handle the animals? But leaving you in the home with them is an outrage. Nobody anywhere in Houston PD had access to a catch pole rather than subject your family to potential danger?
Your poor babies didn't deserve to go like this. Hopefully the owner of these two beasts can be located and prosecuted, sued and made to pay for their irresponsibility for having such unsecured, dangerous dogs that cost the life of your two babies and a lifetime of pain, trauma & hurt for you. These bully breeds are becoming so prolific in America that stories like this seem to be everywhere. It's a tragic shame people want to own dogs with many breeding strains apparently genetically defective that they can't or won't control.
