I've had the same problem

What about going the holistic route? I have one with severe allergies that can't tolerate anything chemical, thankfully where I leave fleas/ticks aren't really much of a problem, but if I travel with her which I do frequently, I have to do something - I use a holistic product that contains neem and cedar oils, and it works well to keep her flea-free.
