I am going to get her doggie pajamas to keep her warm, although I can already forsee a huge struggle trying to get her to be still long enough to get her legs into them. And then see if she will even tolerate them on her. She tries to get the little sweaters and coats off of her when I put them on her when it is cold. This dog doesn't like anything confining!! |
At first I bought a very expensive bed with a "pillow top." It was still not comfortable. I have back and joint issues so I needed something more. I bought a memory foam topper. The thing is there are all kinds of memory foam out there. You need to find the density that will fit your needs and that is the good thing about the topper. The denser the foam is made the firmer it will be. The weight of the person also needs to be taken into consideration. Read up on it and find a company that will help you make the right decisions. The most common depth for a topper is the 3" and 4" and there are assorted densities. If you get a topper that is too soft at a 4" depth you will feel like you sink in too far. I got a firmer 4" topper and I have to tell you it has been a life saver. Like I said I don't move around much. Once I am asleep that is it. I used to move almost constantly. When I was still working at the clinic full time I reccommened them to many people with various issues and they were so glad they got one. Even some of the physicians bought them.
Memory foam does break down over the years. Most have a 10 year guarantee. I don't reccomend the memory foam beds because there are just too many variables and the foam does break down over time. Hope you can find a good one.
I think Gracie weighs so little that the memory foam doesn't mean much to her. She claimed the pillow for herself. She wears her flannel or fleece pajamas when it is cooler. (70 degrees F for her) A nice comfy dog bed with a warm blanket on your bed might be helpful if you have the room for it.
I have never had to make such changes to my life for a dog before. She is well worth it to me though. She is a huge part of my life and I love her dearly. Her quirky personality just makes life all the more interesting. Terriers are dog's with strong personalities but you have to consider what they were bred for. They are totally loving and loyal dogs no matter how strange some of the personality traits are. I hope you start getting a full nights sleep soon.
