I don't have experience with yorkies with ulcerative colitis, but my son has UC. Yes, diet can help. Even though your yorkie has UC, not celiacs disease, I would switch his food to a grain free and gluten free food. Many of the quality brand dog foods have grain free and I know I saw one just the other day that was also gluten free. I can't remember if it was Wellness Core or Blue Buffalo or some other. The grain free foods are usually higher in proteins, also. But it is worth a try because it might give him some relief.
