I prefer soft treats for training. You don't want the lesson to bog down while they're chewing up something hard.

I use Yummy Chummies. Yummy Chummies dog treats made with Wild Alaska salmon - Home. They're made in Alaska, so I can get a 2-pound bag for $9.99 at Costco. But they sell them all over.

I also use peas and carrots, but for training you really want something that drives them wild. For obedience classes, they often recommend chicken or turkey hotdogs. A little high calorie for a Yorkie, but when you're working on something important it helps.
