You are entrusting your pet to the care of this person....are they licensed? What about boarding facilities....do the employees need to be licensed, or certified or something? These are all areas where someone would benefit from some kind of registration or certification....I sometimes think of annual licenses as a method of generating revenue by the governing body.....I want to see certificates and validation of CEU's that have been taken during the year...
Our doggy daycare has live feed web cams...I love it and the owner makes all the employees take a doggy cpr class and get 'certified'out ironically by our groomer.

Just saying we use sittercity to find our sitter, who has several certifications on her resume, we aren't using a licensed day day right now - its scary especially finding child pet care so we have a hone dvr security system and we let them know right away- smile you're on camera-our goal is not to catch anyone but to detour or prevent and also ensure without doubt our kids are properly cared for...haven't used the sitter yet fir the kids she did great with the dogs though lol.

We all know some licenses aren't worth the paper their printed on and seem more about getting revenues than proving competency.
