It never hurts to get a 2nd opinion. That's your right. Crate rest for a little while would be a good idea. Our Maggie did the same thing (hurt herself in the yard and wouldn't put her back leg down). We took her to the vet and he said she has grade 3 LP. He said we could see an ortho surgeon or we could wait to see how she does and address it if it becomes a chronic problem. He recommended crate rest, gave her an injection, and gave her pills to take. We kept her calm as possible and she has done fine. That is the only real incident we ever had and that was about a year and a half ago. I think it would be good to get it graded so you have some sort of benchmark to go by.
