This is what we do, also. Cali gets brushed about once a day usually, and is bathed every 5 to 7 days. Love PEK and Yorkie Sheen, too.
We use a wooden pin brush - Cali's hair is thick and it just slides right through.
Good to start brushing them regularly as soon as possible
