Tibbe goes in the back yard and he changes his potty spot about every 3 or 4 weeks. He will use a particular area for a while and then change to a different area of the yard. I don't think they naturally like to use the same soiled area over and over for long.
Whatever his reason is for using the floor rather than the pad when you are gone, you will have to manage his ability to access that area and prevent it when you are gone until he is retrained. Might change his brand of pee pads, too. Give him a new beginning. I would not leave a diaper on a dog past the moment he soiled it.
