 HELP - swallowed a rawhide!
OH NO! Our two pups were being so cute and gnawing on the same rawhide (stick). When my son realized how short they'd gotten it, he realized it was too short for them and tried to get it. Bear (5 mo. old; 4 1/2 lb) took off and ended up swallowing it when my son was trying to get it out of his mouth about 15 minutes ago. It was likely about 1 1/2 inches long. I tried fishing my finger around, but couldn't feel it and was too concerned that I do more harm than good.
I contacted two emergency vet clinics and they gave me conflicting advice. One wants me to bring him in to induce vomiting there. While the other says to let it pass; they said it could get stuck coming back up. (I'm not concerned about the $ vet visit, more worried about doing what's best for him.)
Any suggestions or advice? Help please!
