I am so sorry for your heartbreaking loss. RIP little Chauncey.

I would think if it were mushrooms or some other poisonous thing, it would have happened quickly. If he had not been outside or had access to anything for an hour or more, I think you can rule that out. I could be wrong. The only way to know for sure is to do post-death testing.
