I don't use patterns often, but when I do, I trace them to freezer paper. I like to do that because it gives me a backup. The pattern paper is so flimsy and tears easily.
Recently i started to take my pattern and scan them my computer. This way I have a copy in each size and can print a fresh copy each time. You can also use your copier to shrink down the smallest size and then save it. I do this even with the patterns I make myself.
