Is Milo young/teething ?
Besides metal, they could chew up just about any material you would choose. Maybe offer an alternative... Bully Sticks, Pig Ears, Teething Dental Chews...

It takes longer to pick them up and take them back to the room where
they belong, than it does to vacuum the room that they were in.
