Oh, dear Lord! How tragic. Suicide is such a sad and lonely act and leaves those behind in such turmoil. As an old psych nurse married to a minister/family therapist, I have had so many experiences with it. Your niece and her family and his family are gonna wonder, worry and grieve all at the same time and that makes the death so much harder to bear.
What you can do at this time is JUST BE THERE for them. Words almost always don't help and we are at a loss as to how to support the loved ones. Being there to listen, hug, cry, smile and grieve with them is about all you can do.
I pray that your family as well as his, will learn why this happened but I also pray that they come to understand that they are NOT to blame. That might come in time. Please keep a close eye on your niece...She is VERY fragile and well, hopeless and she could make some rash decisions.
