Sick pup. Of course one has to go to a vet when a pet is sick and needs medical treatment. But I thought that posters came on YT first to get advice from those here who may have had a similar experiences, before a vet visit. I know when I had my first Yorkie, he would be to the vet immediately he threw up or had a looser stool etc. The poor dog was subjected to major and sometimes invasive tests, mostly for no purpose. Often he would be given heavy duty meds without any real diagnosis. I now for one do observe the dog for a while and mostly he recovers with no vet treatment and no drugs with side effects.
We with time learn to differentiate between a simple minor tummy upset and a potentially serious problem, but when the pet is behaving normally otherwise, we do not have to rush to the vet and put our pet through that trauma.
If the advice given here is to always take to the vet for anything, why would anyone need to post here?
I know my views will probably result in angry comments, but dogs do have minor upsets which are not serious and sometimes new dog moms have not had enough experience to know that. We can help there.
But again, if in doubt see a vet if you are concerned. |
