I'm not an expert and can only base my humble opinion on my own experience and judgment.
Whether a dog gets mats would be based on different factors (coat length, brushing frequency, & of course coat type). You don't specify any. I mean, maybe she doesn't mat because she has short hair and/or you brush her well enough
I wouldn't rely solely on coat color to know the type of coat. She's still young. If you could post a picture maybe we can get a better idea of her coat
