Well, she's in much better shape then it sounded from the way the shelter was talking about her - Her eye IS savable! I may take her to the opthamologist when I get her back to Vegas, but for now we're going to medicate the eye with some antibiotic and steroid eye drops to help bring down the inflamation, it does appear to be some sort of blunt trama, but the vet thinks her eye will be ok with proper care. But she does seem to be completely blind, her other eye is covered by a cataracts. She's also probably going to loose most if not all her teeth, and, of course, she'll need to be spayed once we deal with the more urgent problems. She's also got some fleas, no big shock there either. Just gave her a good bath and brush, I think her coat is going to be saved, it's coming out nicely now that she's clean! And she's already following me everywhere, dancing, and is absolutely darling! She bumps into everything because she can't tell where she's going, but she'll be ok once she figures out the layout of the house. My heart isn't completely into this right now - There's been many tears today, but I'm so glad I am doing this anyway, all this little doll needs is some good old fashion TLC now! This "free" Yorkie is going to end up costing me about $1000 once all her medical care is taken care of - WELL WORTH EVERY CENT! I'll take her back to the vet in a week to follow up on her eye problem, but he suspects with the eye meds and antibiotics we started her on, she should improve quickly.
