I'd go out and find one, bring him/her home, and when your Husband comes home and asked what did you do today? You can show him your new baby.
That's what I did! I took so long looking for Princess, my husband and kids thought I gave up. Then one day when they came home, Princess was here, and Poncho was at the Vet getting neutered.
