It is not worth the risk of anesthesia nor the expense. Maggie was chipped while she was under for her spay, but it is normal procedure to chip without anesthesia. I would prefer the dog has few seconds, or less of pain (and I'm sure it's only like a hard pinch) than have side effects of being put under. I'm afraid to have her dental due to the anesthesia, but I understand it is required. She was 2 in April, so hopefully doesn't need one yet!
