I have a question....has anyone here had their furbabby microchipped without being under anesthesia?

Macy has never been microchipped and I want to change that. She has been fixed and does not need a dental so she won't be having any surgery where microchipping would be easy to do. The vet said they microchip all the time without anesthesia, they just use a little bigger needle and it's over in a matter of seconds. This is the same dog that a few days ago screamed like she was dying when he put the stethescope to her chest to listen to her heart.
