Max's spots did not itch or bother him either. Our vet said they were not caused by urine either, although I'm sure urine doesn't help -- Max's spots were not in a place where urine would hit anyway.

Wash with a non-irritating shampoo and rinse really well at least once a week. Use a hair dryer on low heat to dry (careful not to burn his belly, keep the hairdryer moving rather than concentrating on one spot). Don't let him lie down with a wet belly because moisture will only exacerbate the problem.

Apply the coconut oil topically. Make sure it is cold-pressed, organic, with no preservatives. I bought one with preservatives and it did nothing to help.
