Don't get me wrong, I too have given my dogs the special diets as they are formulated for a specific disease. They have also done well on them, but as I said brfore, having read the ingredients, they are not what I would usually accept in food. I could never understand why these foods could not use ingredients that did not include byproducts etc, and I felt better when I heard here that the improvements are being used now.
Perhaps we use human standards for dog food and tend to reject items that are perfectly ok for dogs? In the wild, after all, animals eat most of the prey, warts and all.
Btw, I had not heard of the Science Diet regular food, Ideal Balance. Thank you for the info.
I did not intend for anyone to hold back on feeding the prescription diets that are necessary. I apologize for giving that impression. |
