Pup hates baths Hi, everyone! Hubby and I got a new pup, Rocky, about three weeks ago. He's almost four months old. The first time I gave him a bath, he didn't like it and tried to jump out of tub. I was very gentle and talked to him in a quiet manner, but he still hated it. i always make sure the water is not too hot and draw his bath before he gets in.
Yesterday, I gave him another bath and this time he was worse. He kept trying to jump out and I could tell he was scared, which I can understand. However, he turned around and made a biting gesture towards my hand, which didn't even remotely hurt and barely grazed my skin if anything. I told him a firm "no" at the action. I can't help but still feel hurt and a little taken back by the biting gesture though. It's not something I want to happen again.
I've never had a puppy this young to know if this is normal behavior. His gentle play biting on us has decreased greatly and whenever he goes for my hands when we play I give him a bone and he chews on that instead. He has always been very gentle if he does play bite, and is learning.
I don't know if any of you have experienced this and if it is something I should be concerned about. I just wrote it off to him being and puppy and unfamiliar with the bathtub. All I have to go on is my baby Ace never acted like that, and he hated baths too. However, Ace was also six months when we got him, so I know that is also a factor. Any advice or experiences would be helpful. Thanks, my fellow yorkie parents!! |
