 Polycythemia
My little buddy was diagnosed with polycythemia, which is a rare bone marrow disease. He produces too many red blood cells. My vet tried a chemo drug, but it had negative effects on his white blood cells. So now his treatment is a phlebotomy every so often depending on how fast his red blood cells are regenerating. It doesn't seem to effect him unless his red blood cells get too high, otherwise he's a normal pup. I know this is a rare condition, but I was wondering if anyone else dealt with this or any red blood cell issues? |
