I always worked fulltime until I retired and once I began teaching a dog to hold it to go outside, my last two Yorkies have been totally clean in the house, unless ill. I leave potty pads down for them but they will not use them, preferring to hold it for outside and leaving all their scents and "trophies" out there for the world to enjoy! I think grown dogs usually sleep most of the day when their owner works so apparently it is not that difficult for them or they would use their potty pads or go somewhere! But they don't.
