I personally would not let them out if there's a predatory bird about...w/clothes or even a leash. Hawks are opportunistic hunters & doesn't care whether you are 5 feet away or standing right next to your fur baby, when they get the chance, they will strike.
Yorkiemom1 informed us in another thread that the hawks see our yorkies as bunnies.
