I agree, I would get bloodwork done prior to any procedures. Is there a particular reason why your vet is saying no? I would be wondering why she didn't think it necessary to do. Will she be having any dental work at the same time? A lot of times, this is done at the same time as spay or neuter so the animal doesn't have to go thru another procedure. I would try and talk with the vet and find out what her opinion is on this too. Good luck.
