Well, just check on him tonight with the attendant vet tech and he'll sleep. And you can get some rest - not much but some. If he were home you'd likely get none. I think I sat up the whole night both Jilly and years later, Tibbe, came home after their respective spay/niderings. And both stayed the night of surgery at the vet. I called often!
