As for travel distance, some dogs ride well in the car while others don't. When we got Maggie (she's the one in my avatar), we drove 6 1/2 hours each way to get her. We left at 6:30 in the morning and didn't get back until 8:00 that night. She did extremely well in the car. She was between 13-14 weeks old when we got her. She has always done well in the car. Our maltese (Lilly) also does well in the car and LOVES to go for rides, but our other yorkie (Ginger) HATES riding in the car (trembles, shakes, pants like crazy, and gets very nervous).

I wouldn't let traveling to get the pup I want stop me. When the right one comes along, you will know it. There will be an instant connection. Good luck with your search.
