I brought a MUCH older pom into my home (8yrs at the time). She had some of the same issues and I KNOW that she was yelled at and chased when she had an accident. I used my other dogs to help me train her. She went out when they went out, I always knew where she was in the house. They helped me show her that praise,treats,potting outside and being held and loved were all good things. I make a point of not ever raising my voice at her,she just shuts down and wont even move if your voice sounds like it might be angry.
At a year,your new baby is just a kid and retraining her may take a bit of time,but she will learn to trust you. |
