I'd want to remove the tape carefully, pulling the hair off the tape...not the other way round. But, with the ears trimmed, the hair should be minimized. I'd make sure not to catch the head hair in the tape, too. Here is a 'trimming' video. I actually use the clippers shown in this video...they are very nice for trimming ears. I have scissored the ear edges, but mostly I just...and this is hard to explain...visually...but mostly I just press the clipper into my finger just off the edge of the ear leather and with the blade parallel to the ear edge. It is impossible to cut the ear that way, and it doesn't hurt your finger either. I also use these trimmers to round/trim/touch up paws although I also scissor them, too. I have used it for sanitary trim/touch up as well.
