We just got another Yorkie, a 10 week old female and brought her home to our male 11 year old Yorkie. We only brought her home last Monday and it's been just over a week now and I have seen a major improvement. When we first came in with her I was very upset seeing Jem snarl and growl at her. She is just relentless on him and won't let up trying to play. He has been very patient with her and I believe he now knows she's not leaving and has given in a bit. Now they run and play, but I will still not leave them together when I am not home. Better to be safe than sorry, she goes in her pen in the day and sleeps in her crate at night.

I have read up on this quite a bit and have found out that it's perfectly normal for the older dog to "teach" the new pup his/her boundaries and it is quite necessary. I also read not to intervene unless you see real danger.

Good luck, I'm sure it will all work out!
