I got Jada when she was 10 weeks old and her breeder trained her to use newspaper so I continued that and it worked well. I would put down pee pads and put newspaper on top of them. (she couldn't use just pee pads because she would chew them) However, after a couple of months the newspaper method just became too messy because she would step in her urine and track it on the floor. She also started to tear it up when she was home alone. Then, she would run around the whole house and slide into the newspaper like she was playing baseball and sliding into home base!
So I got her a ugodog indoor potty which has worked out great! It's small and prevents mess. At first I was afraid that she wouldn't know how to use the bathroom outside but when we go for walks she will use the bathroom outside.
