Oh, that sounds like he definitely is leaving clues.
I thought it was the list of names, because when he got up from the table after speaking to that women (Lydia), it looked like he rolled up the list and put it under his hat. At first I thought it was one of those poisonous cigarettes, but it looked different and I assumed it was the list of names, but maybe it was the poisonous cigerette?

When he got home it showed him putting the rolled up piece of paper behind the electrical plate.
