OMG!!! I always warn people to look out for hawks as well as other preditor birds....Calli was VERY lucky, especially being that small......usually, the hawk dives down and hits them in the back, breaking their back, then there is no struggle as they pick them up and fly off....perhaps it was a young hawk, still honing its hunting skills...please be very careful...the next time, it may be Big Momma that attacks.....I have had hawks and owls dive at mine, I too, live in a neighborhood....I am never more than 5-10 feet away from them, but actually, that is too far.....they can be taken in one fell swoop, and you are just absolutely transfixed in terror, stunned amazement!!!
