What you taught your daughter some wonderful life lessons. Unselfish love should guide our actions. Do the right thing. We may have to wait for what we want. Treat others the way you want to be treated. God will smile every time, he remembers what you did.
You have been given some very good advice. I aggree that a rescue or shelter dog may be the answer.
