Go to petfinder . com and you can find rescues and shelters in your area. You can also see if they have some smaller breed dogs available. Most places require a larger fee for a purebred or more popular type of dog. Spaying and neutering fees will also be charged along with shots, etc.

Some rescues have put a sizeable amount of money into getting these poor dogs back to a healthy state so the fee may reflect that investment. Hope you can find just the right friend for your daughter.
